Government measures that may affect some firearms owners
The Government has extended three measures to encourage compliance among firearms owners for one year. The measures are:
- Extending a fee waiver for firearms licence renewals or upgrades
- Extending an amnesty which allows individuals with expired licences or in possession of unregistered non-restricted firearms to take steps to bring themselves into compliance
- Allowing eligible holders of expired Possession-Only Licences (POL) to apply for a new POL
These three measures will be in effect until May 16, 2010.
